But, that’s not all Vicks can do! Yep! There’s more. And surprisingly, this use of Vicks is not very popular as it’s latter use.

So why VapoRub? VapoRub carries levomenthol, a mint flavored solid white glass. Using it alone may result in a mild rash. But, it becomes completely safe when dissolved in Vicks as it carries eucalyptus oil.

We’ve shared a few procedures to work around with it.

Procedure 1: Vicks And Vaseline

  • Vicks VapoRub — 1 Tbsp
  • Vaseline (Standard unscented) — 1Tbsp

The Process To Follow

It’s a 1:1 recipe and you can re-calculate as per the amount you want or the area you want to cover. Mix both the ingredients well enough to make sure they are fully incorporated into one another. You will have a spreadable balm type consistency. Apply that over the desired area and tightly wrap it up with a plastic wrap. Keep it on for 60 minutes. Remove and repeat daily or every other day. The results show up gradually, but they are there.

The Process To Follow

This one is probably the simplest of all. Apply a layer of Vicks VapoRub in the desired area and cover it up with a plastic wrap. Secure it tightly so that it doesn’t budge while you have it on overnight. Repeat this method 5 times a week to see reputable results.

Procedure 3: Vicks And Sodium Bicarbonate


  • Vicks VapoRub — 8 Tbsp
  • Camphor — 1/2 Tablet
  • Sodium bicarbonate (Baking Soda) — 3 Tbsp
  • Alcohol — 3 Tbsp

The Process To Follow

Start off with the camphor tablet. Crush half of it. Now, measure out the rest of the ingredients. Mix the crushed tablet with the other ingredients until you get a paste. Store the resulted cream in a glass or a plastic jar. Preferably glass, since it’s safer and environmentally friendly.

Apply the cream at night before going to bed. Layer it on in circular movements. Massage for a bit. Then, wrap it with plastic wrap and leave it on overnight. You may also let it sit for 30 minutes and then remove it. You may choose the latter if sleeping on with plastic wrap is uncomfortable for you.

It’s best to use this cream while you’re staying at home or before you head out to the gym for doing your routine workouts.

Repeat this method as per your requirement.

Procedure 4: Vicks And Alum

  • Vicks VapoRub — 2 or 3 Tbsp
  • Alum (powder) — 2 Tbsp
  • Sodium bicarbonate (Baking Soda) — 1 Tbsp

The Process To Follow

First, mix the two dry ingredients. Now, mix in the Vicks. Make sure you get a nice pasty consistency that is easy to spread. Apply the cream generously to the desired area and cover it securely with a plastic wrap. Then leave it on overnight. Release the plastic wrap the next morning. You may take a hot shower if you want to lose the strong smell of Vicks.

This concoction will help the body sweat, resulting in a weight loss in the affected area. It could be your thigh, your arms, your belly or your love handles. Basically, any body part that you wish to thin out. Repeat this procedure till you have achieved the desired outcome.

We can slice up a cold potato and place the slices over our eyelids for 15-20 minutes, the regular drill. Or we can also, grate the potato, squeeze out the juice/water from it and place that in the refrigerator till it turns cold.

When that’s done, take it out in a bowl and dip 2 cotton pads in it and then place those over your eyelids. Let the bleaching powers of the potato juice take over and lighten those unwanted dark circles. Repeat as per requirement.

Home Remedy 4 – Almond Oil

Almond oil, not just any though. It’s the sweet almond oil that we’re interested in. It serves two purposes; lightens and moisturizes. Don’t we all just love it when you get more bang for the buck? Again, two ways to use this remedy.

First, with just the almond oil alone. Take a few drops of the oil and gently massage the contour of your eyes till the part where the dark circles extend. Do this for a good 5-10 minutes or till the skin soaks up all the oil. Leave overnight, and rinse with water the following morning. Repeat as per your requirement.

The second way requires honey. Honey is rich in anti-oxidants that boost up the results. Only add 1 tsp of honey to 5-6 drops of the almond oil. Apply to your dark circles and leave it on overnight. Rinse with water the following morning and say hello to soft-looking but not puffy eyes!

Home Remedy 5 – Mint Leaves

We all are well aware of the cooling sensation we get out of chewing a mint flavored bubblegum and how it uplifts are moods and gives us hat fresh feeling. Well, mint can do the same for those annoying little dark circles too. Mint contains anti-microbial, anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties. These properties help draw in the blood vessels to help them loosen up and diminish the blue-ish dark appearance of them under the periorbital skin.

Procedure 1

Blend the mint leaves and leave them in the fridge to cool up for a bit. Once cold, apply directly to the dark circles and leave it on for 5-10 minutes. If the cooling sensation is over-whelming leave it on for a lesser time. Wipe it off with a clean cloth, rinsing is not necessary unless you feel the need to.

Procedure 2

Blend the mint leaves and add 1 Tbsp of tomato juice. Make a nice paste and apply it to the dark circles. Leave it on for 5 minutes and not more than that. Wash off with cold water and repeat as necessary.

Procedure 3

Blend the mint leaves and add the juice of half of a lemon. Apply the paste on the dark circles for 10-15 minutes. And this time rinse with a slightly lukewarm water. Repeat till you see the desired results.

With all these tricks aside, the most important for getting rid of dark circles will always be health related. Two factors that will help speed up this whole journey is, to drink plenty of water and get plenty of sleep.

Sleep being more important as that is the time when the repairing starts. So the more you rest the more time you give your body to repair itself. It’s a simple natural phenomenon.

It requires no equipment. It can be done anywhere.

  • Straight Arm Plank:

Place your hands under the shoulders slightly wider than shoulders. In straight position toes on the ground squeezing glute. Head should be in a line with your back.

It is a variation of Straight arm or Standard Plank. Forearm plank is easy as compared to standard form. Place elbow straight below shoulders and arms parallel to your body at shoulder width.


  • Side Plank:

Lie on side with one leg placed on the top of the other leg. Then stretch your body on your elbow or hand.

For variation, you can raise your opposite arm straight in the air.

Superman Pose

It targets your back, hamstring and glutes muscles. Superman pose is great stretching exercise without any equipment.

Lie on your stomach upon a mat spreading your arms and feet. Lift your arms and legs keeping your head straight 3 inches off the ground. Hold this position for a few seconds. Release and then again stretch.

Do 10 repetitions in a set of 2.


Crunches are ideal for toning lower back muscles and obliques. Crunches have different variations.


Lie on a mat. Bend legs. Cross your hands to opposite shoulders or place them behind your neck without applying pressure on your neck. Lift your head and shoulder blades from the mat. Exhale on lifting inhale on lowering.

Bicycle crunches are challenging. Do a crunch in bringing your knee close to the elbow. Extend them to starting position and repeat.

Do 15 repetitions of 2 sets or 3 repetitions of 3 sets.

How to Get Rid of Back Fat by HIIT

Do Higher Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) to burn fat quickly. Exercise for 30 seconds at high intensity.  It boosts your normal cardio exercises.

Swim to Getting Rid of Back Fat

Swimming is the best exercise for burning fat. It involves every muscle of your body. It improves back postures and burns fat.
