  3. It is recommended to give Capstar. It contains “nitenpyram”, which is suitable for any dog that is 4 weeks older or above. It is used to treat a flea not recommended for prevention. Capstar works for 24 hours.
  4. There are some spot-on treatments too. Products are available in any drug store. Ask a vet first before using it.

Some natural remedies to remove fleas are:

  1. Start with a bath. Bath can remove any flea on the surface of the body. Use organic shampoo.
  2. Yet organic products can be used to wash off flea from the body.
    • You can also add essential oils to shampoo.  Tea tree, cedarwood, and rosemary are great for the treatment of flea.
    • Let the shampoo sit for 10 minutes.
  3. You can use Apple cider vinegar (ACV) to treat flea. Rinse your pet’s body with apple cider vinegar. It creates acidity in the body but balances alkaline inside.
    • Mix 4 parts of water with 5 parts of ACV.
    • Add a quarter teaspoon of salt in the mixture and shake well. Spray this mixture all over the pet’s body. Avoid contact with eyes.
    • For prevention add ACV inside the dog’s food. Do not add more than a half teaspoon.
  4. Comb hair for removing flea. You can look for flea and safely remove them by a thin comb. Stand or seat your dog on a white cloth. This is will help you see the flea and eggs.
    • Furthermore, you can dip your comb in vinegar or soapy water. It will trap eggs.


Make a habit to clean your house for preventing any kind of disease. A good environment is essential.

  1. Clean the home. It is important to clean the house so that any egg may not attack your dog later.
    • Wash everything used by your dog when he/she was infected by a flea. Put it in a hot dryer so it kills eggs, adults, and larvae.
    • Vacuum clean every day.
    • Diatomaceous Earth is also used to clean out carpets and rugs. Spread all over the carpet and leave it for 48 hrs, then vacuum well.
    • Baking soda or coarse salt can also be used.
    • Use a steamer to clean carpets, rugs, and furniture.

Yet, our dogs like to play in gardens and grounds. They get flea from outside, so some precautionary measures can be taken to avoid any severe disease.

  1. Clean your garden or yard.
  2. Trim the grass and bushes.
  3. Remove dead leaves.
  4. You can use Nematodes, as they eat any bugs and flea. They can be sprayed on the lawn. Moreover, they do not harm plants in the garden nor the environment.
  5. Plant some flea repellents in your garden. Lemongrass, rosemary, peppermint, and sage are great plants to keep flea away.
