How Much Is One Deciliter?

A deciliter is a unit for the measurement of volume, used in Metric System and it is represented by “dl”.  Although the deciliter is not a base unit used for the measurement in SI system, still it is used in some countries.

The deciliter is one-tenth of a liter and we can easily get an idea through it that it is a small unit for the small measurement. Usually, it is used for the measurement of small size drinks at bars or sometimes we use this in recipes.

We can easily convert deciliter into different units for ease of understanding because most of us are not familiar with this unit. In this article, we will discuss the conversion of deciliter into other units precisely.

Deciliter into Liter

deciliter to liter

A liter is a base unit for the measurement of volume usually in liquid form. As we have described above that deciliter is one-tenth of a liter

1 deciliter = 1/10 liter

1 deciliter = 0.1 liter

So if we have 20 deciliters of milk then for the conversion in liter we have to simply multiply it by 0.1.

20 deciliter = 0.1 x 20

20 deciliter = 2 liters

The result is equivalent to 2 liters.

Deciliters into Milliliters

deciliter to milliliter

One milliliter is the 1000th of a liter and we have seen its use many times in medicines and recipes, for example, 2 ml of water or 3 ml of milk.

1 milliliter = 0.001 liter

1 deciliter = 100 milliliters

For the conversion of 20 deciliters of milk into milliliter, we need to multiply the quantity of milk in deciliters by 100 as deciliters is 100 times of milliliter.

20 deciliters = 100 x 20

20 deciliters = 2000 milliliters

The result is equivalent to 2000 milliliters and we can analyze that milliliter is a small unit than a liter.

Deciliter into Cubic Centimeter

deciliter to cubic centimeters

A cubic centimeter is a unit of measurement of volume and it is represented by “cc”. It is also equivalent to milliliter.

1 milliliter = 1 cubic centimeter

1 deciliter = 100 cubic centimeters

If we take the value of above example, the conversion of 20 deciliters in cubic centimeters would be

20 deciliters = 100 x 20

20 deciliters = 2000 cubic centimeters

And the result is 2000 cc, equivalent to milliliters.

Deciliter in Cup

Deciliter in cup

When we are dealing in the kitchen sometimes we don’t have a measuring scale to measure how much is deciliter. In that case, we can measure using the cups. Cups are of different sizes and shapes, the standard cup size is considered to be 200 ml.

Cup size can be a bit different from this standard size but this difference can be ignored.  As we know that

1 deciliter = 100 milliliter

So for a cup of 200 ml, a half cup equals to 1 deciliter.

½ cup = 100 ml

1 cup = 200 ml

1 deciliter = ½ cup

2 deciliters = 1 cup

It becomes easier using a cup for the measurement of deciliter while working in the kitchen over a recipe.
