When we look at a brick house, we can easily see that the bricks are the small unit in it. All the living things, like a brick house, consists of very small units known as cells and these are basic units of all living things.

In this world, all the living things are composed of trillions of biological cells that form a complete organism to perform different functions. Unicellular organisms are composed of only one cell. Cells are different in sizes, shapes and functions. Animal and plant cells are almost same with a little difference of some components.

In this article, the difference between these cells and their components will be clarified, so read the article till the end.

Plant Cell

plant cell

Cell Wall

It is made of cellulose and it is the outer cover of the plant cell.

Cell Membrane

It is positioned inside the cell wall and it directs the movement of materials back and forth of the cell.

Cytoplasm

It is a jelly-like material and almost all the endeavors of the cell are performed in it. It contains cell organelles which perform different functions and these are given below

  • Endoplasmic Reticulum: The movement of materials takes place through it in the cell.
  • Mitochondria: Provides energy to the cell.
  • Chloroplasts: They snare energy from the sun which is further used to make foods by plants.
  • Vacuole: Store waste materials, food particles and other necessary things. There is only one vacuole in this cell.

Nucleus

It directs all the endeavors. It is placed at the corner of the wall.

Animal cell

animal cell

Cell Membrane

It is the outermost veil of the animal cell and it directs the movement of materials back and forth of the cell.

Cytoplasm

Just like plant cell it is jelly-like material, contains cell organelles and different functions take place in it.

  • Endoplasmic Reticulum: The movement of materials in cell takes place through it.
  • Mitochondria: Provides energy to the cell.
  • Vacuoles: Store waste materials, food particles and other necessary things. In animal cells, there are several vacuoles.
  • Centrioles: Present only in the animal cell, and plays an advantageous role in cell division.

Nucleus

Controls all the actions. it is located in the center.

Difference Between Animal And Plant Cell

  • In plant cell wall is the outer lining while in the animal cell it is absent and outer most covering is cell membrane.
  • In plant cell nucleus lies near side of the wall as a large vacuole is present while in the animal cell there are so many vacuoles and the nucleus is located in the center.
  • Another major difference is that chloroplast is present in the plant cell and doesn’t in the animal cell that is why animals can’t produce their own food.
  • In the plant cell, centriols are absent while in the animal cell there are two centriols that provide energy.

I hope now you are able to perceive the difference between these two cells and if you have any query then write it down in the comments section.
